Spaceflight associated with neuro-ocular syndrome (SANS) was reported recently in association with prolonged exposure to microgravity. The reported symptoms include a decrease in near-vision, various optic nerve and retina changes, and a change in the refractive error following return to Earth. DeTest, developed by the School of Optometry and Vision Science at Bar Ilan University, aims to study, part of Rakia mission with the collaboration of the Israel Aerospace Medicine Institute (IAMI), the in-flight effects of microgravity on visual function, utilize proven, well-tested Israeli technology digital tablet software testing the functional vision in courtesy of Cortex Therapeutics (Glassesoff).
