Investigation of Surface Defect Formation in
Advance Li-ion Batteries using Si-based anodes

The goal of the experiment is to identify surface defects during charge and discharge cycles of a novel silicon-dominant lithium-ion cell by using zero gravity properties. Understanding of surface processes can potentially obtain clear perspective of silicon-based anodes and open avenues in the exploration of effective active materials for various electrochemical power systems with high energy densities, used in a wide variety of applications, ranging from consumer electronics to electric vehicles.
